But in other ways I feel completely out of it. Like, what is the appeal of The Enemy? Or The Fratellis? How did these third rate guitar bands get so popular? What's the point of a ringtone? My ringtone is "Move Bitch" by Ludacris, picked not because I like the song alot, but mostly because its retarded, and makes me laugh. Do people actually buy ringtones for £3 a time? I mean you look at something like that and you think "who the hell would pay for a short MP3 file when they could download it for free off the internet? What is the point of Skins? Why is it necessary? In fact, what is the point of E4 in its entirety? Have you ever seen the Live Big Brother? It's a window into other people's lives so you don't have to face the crushing misery of your own. And then on E4+1 you get a window into people's lives an hour ago. TV aimed at my demographic is this stupid?
I don't understand all these crazy genres of rock music. What is emo? More to the point, why is emo? What is screamo? What is metalcore? Do I have to care or is it okay to not bother? What's with all the shouting in modern life? And also since I'm being honest and admitting my failures as a young person now, I'll say I still haven't really got the hang of buses.
Actually everything that is nicely marketed to my demographic (18-35 year-old male) is really offensive. I don't want a pair of trainers endorsed by 50 Cent. "Go see this film! Shit blows up in it!" Now I do like seeing shit blow up, but seriously, you can't do it better than Independence Day, so don't bother. Family Guy? Fuck, don't get me started. And the worst thing is, while I think the fact that 99% of this stuff is utter shite is pretty self-evident, it all goes on to be successful. I mean maybe my generation is a bunch of gibbering morons after all.
And now I'm tired at 10pm. I might as well give up and go all middle-aged already.
